Food for White Schnauzer
Not so while ago I was not so concerned about food for my White Schnauzer. Yes I fed him with the middle-priced professional food that breeder had adviced. But once I was so ignorant that bought some bag of cheap dry meatballs. My white schnauzer eat it with no problems, and I decided to change his menu for that cheaper food.
In a two weeks of time my little beloved polar bear began to loose his coat from his bottom. I immediately called my vet (but already knew the answer) – yes, it was because of that cheap food.
I changed my white schnauzer menu again for better choice of products. But I was curious what was that bag of crap anyway. Answer was mind-blowing and horrifying!
Stop Feeding Dog Food That Kills
Almost all young dogs that die in the US could live longer and better life if they were not been fed commercial dog food. In was a massive recall of more than 60 000 000 dog food cans in 2007. And it alerts dog owners nationwide to look in this problem deeper.
Here is some shoking video about that:
Most of commercial dog food is junk and rubbish. Replete with fillers, chemicals and preservatives, commercial dog food has one particular and primary function – to sell this food to unsuspecting dog owners. Like it was in my case. I believed that filling my dog food bowl with favorite brand of commercial dog food is just what my dog need to fulfill all of his nutritional requirements.
As I said I was wrong. Most commercial dog food is made from materials unusable or less desirable for human consumption.
Meat by-products
Meat by-products which are ground, rendered, slaughtered meat carcass parts including necks, feet, undeveloped eggs, bones, heads, and intestines and feathers from chicken meat.
In many cases, meat by-products are from animals that arrived at the meat packing plant dead, dying, diseased or disabled. It won’t pass USDA inspection, so into the pet food bin it goes….
Ingredients listed as “meat, beef, chicken, and/or poultry by-products” on commercial dog food labels are not required to include actual meat, and “rendered meat” includes dogs and cats.
Meat-and-bone meal
Meat and bone meal is made by rendering plants. Meat and bone meal is though to have been a contributing factor in mad cow disease. It is a common ingredient in the U.S. in commercial dog food.
Grain by products
The FDA says that grain by products shall ”not… exceed 50% of the diet” for pets( dogs). Lower grade and cheaper commercial dog food brands will have more animal by-products and grain “fillers”. But dogs do not have the long, winding digestive tract required to digest fibrous grains and cereals. Dogs have a short straight digestive tract designed to digest meat.
Many dogs who eat corn, soybeans, or wheat develop health problems. To make matters worse, GOOD grain is reserved for the human market. What goes into the pet food bin is deemed unfit for human consumption because of mold, rancidity, or contaminants.
But enough this scary facts. So lets discuss what you can do. Start with these 3 steps:
Step 1 – Stop using commercial dog food as your dog’s only or main source of food.
Step 2 – Learn how to read commercial dog food labels.
Step 3 – Get some healthy, well-balanced dog food recipes and start feeding your dog home made food.
